Apple May Entirely Ditch Touch ID for Face ID in 2018

Apple is expected to ditch the Touch ID fingerprint sensor in favor of facial recognition by next year, according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Apple will embrace Face ID as the new authentication method as a means of having an edge over Android smartphones.
Kuo has stated once before that the technology would take years for Android manufacturers to produce, as well as the iPhone X 's TrueDepth camera.
